After Dr. Gul Zikira performs aesthetic laser treatments, most patients will see improvement in their vascular and pigmented lesions. The improvement can be quite dramatic. However, as with any surgical procedure, there is always a possibility that only minor changes will occur and in rare cases there is no responseFacial Scars
Throughout history, facial scarring has been a source of low self-esteem for men, women and children. Facial scar treatments are performed by our doctor for patients in our region to erase or minimize these scars with today's technology. Facial scarring is usually caused by pervasive cystic acne, trauma, burns, surgery or a result of aggressive chicken pox. Scars form as part of the body's healing process whenever multiple layers of skin are injured. Facial scars can negatively affect a patient's self-esteem, as well as his or her business and social life. Many of these patients seek treatment to improve the appearance or texture of their facial scars.
Today, Dr. Zikira can choose from multiple treatment modalities. His options include excisional surgery, punch grafting, soft tissue augmentation, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and dermabrasion. During your conference with Dr. Zikira, explain your goals and expectations of the treatment. Your surgeon will assess the nature of your scars, your expectations and explain the probable outcome of your procedure. Dr. Zikira will prescribe the most appropriate treatment to achieve your expectations. You may be shown several before and after treatment photographs of patients with similar scars, and your surgeon will explain the procedure you can expect to receive and the results that you can anticipate.

Unsightly spider veins and red blotches on the face affect millions of people. While they may not be medical emergencies, many of our patients would like to be rid of these unattractive and sometimes embarrassing distractions to their natural beauty. Fortunately, facial vein treatments are performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region and can safely, easily and effectively treat these facial spider veins, also called telangiectasias. Prior to treatment our physician will review your medical history to determine how long you have had a problem with facial veins. We will need to determine your skin type and if you have had any prior skin treatments on your face. We will also discuss your objectives and fully explain your treatment and projected outcome.
Today's new light and laser technology delivers precise dosages of energy to each vein, with a minimal risk to the skin. During these treatments, light energy is delivered through a special handpiece to the targeted vein. The energy is then absorbed by the blood vessels. The heat/energy absorption causes a thermocoagulation (clogging) of the blood vessel. The clogged vessel is then slowly absorbed by the body. Most patients describe the sensation to be like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Some patients opt to have a topical anesthesia. After treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
Typically, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve optimal results. Tiny pink and red vessels usually require two to three treatments to achieve acceptable results. Veins that are darker or purplish are usually more difficult to remove, and require more treatments. Treatments are spaced at 4 - 6 week intervals.

After Dr. Zikira performs your facial vein treatment, postoperative discomfort is minimal. Your postoperative appearance will vary depending on what type of treatment your doctor selects for your condition. After treatment with certain lasers or light systems some swelling, redness and on rare occasions, some minor blistering may occur. Following treatment with a pulsed-dye laser, some bruising may appear around the treated areas. This can be covered with make-up if desired and will fade away in about 2 weeks. Following any treatment, your skin may feel tender for several days. You should follow your doctor's instructions, avoid any harsh skin cleansers and use sunscreen.
Nothing is as beautiful as soft, smooth, healthy skin. Unfortunately, our skin is subject to numerous experiences that leave it less than perfect. Time, heredity and gravity all do their part to create fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and eyes. Continued exposure to the sun and smoking are known to significantly accelerate the development of these natural signs of aging.
Some skin resurfacing devices, such as CO2 lasers, use the ablative method: removing the epidermis and some of the dermis. While a good result is eventually seen, the drawbacks include red, raw, and unsightly skin, and a risk of infection for several weeks after treatment. Other devices use the non-ablative method: sending light pulses into the dermis, while leaving the epidermis intact. This allows quick recovery, but when the light pulses don’t penetrate far into the dermis, the change in skin tone and texture is negligible.
Fractional Skin Resurfacing is performed by Dr. Zikria for patients from Milpitas, San Jose, Sunnyvale and san Francisco because it offers both excellent results and no downtime. Fractional Skin treatments deliver light in an array of narrow, focused “microbeams” to create columns of heat within the skin. These microbeams penetrate deep into the dermis for the most effective, long-term results obtainable. The heated tissue within the columns starts a natural healing process that forms new, healthy tissue. This results in a decrease in sunspots, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scarring and a fresher, more youthful skin tone and texture. The Fractional Non-ablative approach stimulates quick healing, while leaving your skin’s surface intact, with no lasting redness.
Fractional Skin Resurfacing can be applied to any area of the body, including the face, chest, arms, legs and hands.
Fractional Skin Rejuvenation is designed to alter only portions of the target skin tissue. Think of it as digital tissue editing. Fractional Skin Rejuvenation creates multiple, microscopic, thermal columns within the skin. Together these micro-treatments cause a change in the collagen and elastin below your skin’s surface, which gradually improves the appearance of your aging and sun-damaged skin. It also results in a healing process with minimal downtime. In addition, Fractional Skin Rejuvenation penetrates to a very precise, controlled depth, making the procedure safe and predictable, while reducing the risk of scarring or pigmentation problems.
Most patients choose it because of the following:
This varies from patient to patient depending on the severity of the condition, your skin type and your desired results. Fractional Skin Rejuvenation produces a gradual remodeling of collagen within the skin. Most indications seem to respond after only 3 - 6 treatments spaced about 14 - 28 days apart. Improvements in the appearance of your skin will continue 6 - 12 months or more after the last treatment.
First, the area to be treated is cleansed. A topical anesthetic ointment may be applied. Some fractional devices require the application of a blue dye to the treatment area. Other systems have a built-in cooling device for a more comfortable treatment. Then the fractional hand piece precisely reads the discreet contours of your skin treatment area. Your treatment is performed using a fractional hand piece gently guided across the skin delivering microbeams of infrared energy into the skin. After your treatment, your skin is washed off. Treatments usually last 10 - 20 minutes, depending on the surface area treated.
After Dr. Zikria performs Fractional Laser Treatments, you may experience lingering redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated area, which fades within a few hours of treatment. Generally, you can receive a treatment and go back to work or to other activities without any recovery time. Because the light pulses are confined to narrow columns in the skin, much of the skin is left unaffected and there is a quick healing process; most people notice positive changes in skin tone and texture within a few days. A series of treatments may be required to achieve your desired results. Your treatment provider will be able to give you more information about Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing and expected outcomes.
Unsightly birthmarks, spider veins on the face and legs, age spots, sun spots, freckles, and unsightly excess hair affect millions of people. While these may not be medical problems, many of our patients would like to be rid of these unattractive distractions to their natural beauty. Advanced IPL treatments are performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region to safely, easily, and effectively treat many benign pigmented and vascular skin lesions painlessly on an out-patient basis.
Skin blemishes due to abnormal blood vessels located directly under your skin's surface that give the skin a red color are called vascular lesions. Pigmented lesions are caused by a proliferation of melanocytes in the skin. Melanocytes contain the cells that manufacture melanin, which is the dark pigment in skin.
IPL treatments are performed with a non-invasive medical system that uses intense pulsed light therapy to reduce melanin, the dark pigment in your skin. The light energy is gently delivered to your skin in pulses, through a delicate, computer-controlled hand piece. After your IPL treatment, the treated vein, lesion or hair will gradually fade and slowly disappear.
Yes. IPL treatments can remove unwanted hair from any part of your body. The pigment in your hair's follicle absorbs the light energy from the IPL. This destroys the follicle so that it cannot grow. However, your hair grows in cycles, and only the hair that is visible can be treated. As a result, multiple treatments will be required for optimal results. Our patients love IPL treatments because once a follicle is destroyed, it will never grow again!
Yes. IPL systems have been used successfully in hundreds of thousands of treatments. IPL allows your doctor to customize each treatment to your specific skin type and condition being treated. This flexible, interactive approach to treatment cannot be reached using any other non-invasive treatment currently available.
Some patients say they feel a slight sting, like the snap of a rubber band on the skin, followed by the feeling of sunburn. However, anesthetics are not necessary.
There are several benefits to IPL treatments:
This depends on the size, location, depth and color of your lesion. Spider veins on the face and age spots generally do well with 1 - 2 treatments, while darker or deeper birthmarks may require additional treatments. Port wine stains, hemangiomas and leg veins usually experience satisfactory results from IPL treatments, although as many as 4 - 8 treatment sessions may be required. Each session usually lasts 15 - 20 minutes. Treatments should be placed 4 - 8 weeks apart to allow your body to remove the maximum amount of pigment cells. You will continue to see a lightening of your lesion after each treatment as your body disposes of the pigment cells.
After Dr. Zikira performs IPL treatments, most patients will see improvement in their vascular and pigmented lesions. The improvement can be quite dramatic. However, as with any medical procedure, there is always a possibility that only minor changes will occur and in rare cases there is no response.
For many men and women, unwanted hair can be a nightmare. Getting rid of it can be painful. Until now the only options for removing unwanted hair were smelly hair removal creams, sharp razors, stinging wax or painful electrolysis needles. Our advanced approach to beautiful skin provides the ultimate solution. Now, Laser Hair Removal is performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region to deliver both men and women satisfying results. Laser Hair Removal uses a low-energy laser to gently remove unwanted hair, putting an end to routine shaving and waxing.
This advanced technology transcends the older, painful hair removal treatments to deliver long-lasting results. Because the laser treats more than one hair at a time, it is possible to treat larger areas such as the back, shoulders, arms, legs and face. Laser treatments leave your skin looking and feeling smoother and silkier. Best of all, Laser Hair Removal treatments are a safe, fast, gentle, and effective alternative method for hair removal.
Laser Hair Removal is a gentle three-step process. First, we gently cleanse the area to be treated. Next, we shave the area. Then the area is scanned with the laser. The laser energy passes through the skin and is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle. In a fraction of a second, all of the treated hair follicles are disabled. The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair's growth cycle. Your hair grows in cycles and many factors influence it's growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair's location, thickness and resilience. The laser slows the growing capacity of follicles in the growth cycle at the time of the treatment. Since some hair follicles may enter their growth cycle after your treatment, multiple treatments may be required to deliver optimal results. Treatment results will vary from patient to patient depending on skin and hair color. Note: Removing hair does not make it grow back thicker, darker or quicker. The opposite is usually the case. The laser may cause hair to come back slower and thinner.
After your Laser Hair Removal treatment, the area is cleansed and you can return to your normal activities immediately. Your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regime especially formulated for your skin type after laser treatments. The use of sunscreen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun.

In your thirties, wrinkles and age spots may begin to appear. Your skin may seem less radiant and may show signs of discoloration. In your forties, the collagen and elastin support network begins to break down. Lines and wrinkles become more prominent as your skin becomes dryer. The blood flow begins to slow down, leaving your skin with less of a blush. Once in your fifties, the new cell production decreases. Your skin retains less water, which increases the wrinkle formation. At the same time the underlying fat cells in your face shrink and your excess skin begins to sag.
A variety of non-surgical facial rejuvenation procedures are performed by our doctor for patients in our region that can turn back the clock. These procedures were designed to reverse, improve or erase the earliest signs of aging such as wrinkles, fine lines and sun-damaged skin. They are often referred to as "Lunchtime Procedures" because they take very little time to perform and do not have any recovery period.
They are called lunchtime procedures because you can improve various signs of aging in just a short period of time and return to your normal activities immediately. Your skin will have a healthy glow, age spots will lighten or disappear, wrinkles around the eyes and frown lines will be softened, and sagging skin can be improved. Patients love these procedures because they help slow down the appearance of aging. It's easier than ever before to look your best.
After Dr. Gul Zikira performs your facial rejuvenation treatment, you may experience some redness or swelling at the treatment site. This can be covered with make-up and you can resume normal activities immediately. What our patients like the most about these procedures is that no one has to know they had them. They just look better!
As we age, different areas of the face and neck are affected differently. Some people develop wrinkling and sun damage in their entire face and neck. Some people seem to lose facial fat, while others accumulate fat in the neck and maintain good skin tone. Others may develop more exaggerated signs of aging in their neck. Neck rejuvenation surgery is performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region to provide dramatic results and a more pleasing profile. These results are especially dramatic when combined with our other rejuvenating procedures.
During your initial consultation, Dr. Zikira will discuss your goals for the surgery and explain your probable outcome of treatment. Our doctor will also help you decide which procedure or combination of procedures will best meet your cosmetic goals. You may be shown before and after treatment photographs of patients having similar conditions, and we will explain the treatment you can expect to receive. Before and after photographs may be taken of your neck to document the results. Neck rejuvenation procedures are generally performed on an outpatient basis. They may be combined with other procedures in order to maximize improvement. Lasers can be used to tighten the skin that is only a little loose, while neck liposuction is accomplished through tiny incisions placed behind the ears and under the chin. With neck liposuction, little straw-like cannulas are used to suction the fat away.

The best candidates for neck rejuvenation are patients in good health with realistic expectations. They have good skin tone and elasticity. It is helpful if they have a fat pad under the skin and on top of the neck muscles.
What conditions can be corrected and with which procedures?
Depending on the extent of the procedure, you may have some swelling and localized bruising which can be covered with make-up. Both are generally gone within 4 - 10 days. A bandage will be placed underneath your chin and an elastic bandage is wrapped around your neck and head. The next morning you may remove the bandage. However, it is important that you continue to wear the elastic garment at night for 2 weeks. Any sutures that require removal are taken out after about a week to 10 days. Over the next several months, as the healing process occurs, the soft suppleness of the neck skin will return. After Dr. Zikira performs your neck rejuvenation procedure, your pulled back and tightened neck will have a youthful, more defined profile. You may resume normal activities almost immediately. Most patients are active and going out by the next day.
Hands are one of the first parts of the body to show signs of aging because they receive so much exposure. Sunlight, the elements and the natural aging process all contribute to the development of darkened spots, unsightly veins, wrinkles and fine lines, precancerous growths and loss of fatty tissue. Now, hand rejuvenation is performed by Dr. Zikira for patients in our region to help make their hands look younger. Combinations of these treatments can be used to rid the hands of a skeletal look and reverse the signs of aging.
During your conference with your doctor, explain your goals and expectations of the treatment. Your doctor will assess the nature of your hands, your expectations, and explain the probable outcome of the procedures best suited for you. You may be shown several before and after treatment results of patients with similar hands, and Dr. Zikira will explain the procedure you can expect to receive and the results that you can anticipate. With all of these procedures at our disposal, our physician can tailor your hand rejuvenation treatment to achieve your expectations.
Nothing is quite as beautiful as smooth, soft, healthy-looking skin. Over time, the first effects of the sun, wind, time and hormones begin to appear. Our skin is our body's largest organ, but maintaining its youthful, vibrant appearance doesn't have to be a difficult process any longer. Photo Rejuvenation is performed by our doctor for patients in our region to combat skin damage in a softer, gentler way.
Photo Rejuvenation systems deliver pulses of intense light, through very specific filters, to the skin. Once delivered, the targeted tissue absorbs the light's energy. There will be a series of 5 - 8 treatments depending on the area and the condition of your skin. Treatments take between 15 - 30 minutes and are administered in the doctor's office.
Yes. Patients with rosacea will see a progressive reduction in redness with every treatment. The redness and flushing caused by rosacea can be reduced by 80 to 90 percent.
The best candidates have the following:
After Dr. Zikira performs each Photo Rejuvenation session, you will experience some improvement in skin tone and texture. There will be a decrease in the overall redness and flushing. Sunspots will fade; pore sizes will shrink. Fine lines and wrinkles will gradually decrease in size as the new collagen forms beneath the skin. These improvements will continue to increase with each treatment.
Unsightly scars and stretch marks, or striae, have presented problems for men and women for centuries. Scars and stretch marks are generally considered unsightly, disfiguring and unacceptable by many people. Scars form as part of the skin's healing process whenever multiple layers of skin are injured. The injury may be the result of an accident, surgery, a burn or even severe acne. While the exact cause of stretch marks is unknown, it is thought that striae are the result of your skin's collagen and elastin breaking down under stress. Pregnancy, body building and weight loss are the leading causes of stretch marks. Stretch marks occur most frequently in areas of mechanical stress such as the breasts, abdomen, thighs, groin or buttocks. In the beginning, stretch marks are red. They turn white as part of the healing process.
In the past, cryosurgery (freezing), excision, steroid injections and the use of topical creams and ointments were the standard of care for the treatment of scars and stretch marks. The results of these treatments range from fair to minimal, with recurrences commonly seen after many of these treatment options. Today, laser treatments to treat a wide variety of scars and stretch marks are performed by our doctor for patients in our region. The laser's energy stimulates the skin under the scar and causes the fibroblasts in the skin to begin to divide again. It also stimulates the production of collagen. This thickens the skin under the scar until it closely resembles the surrounding normal skin. Our current laser technology has been shown to improve or eliminate red or raised scars. Recent studies have demonstrated that laser treatments stimulate the production of collagen and improve or eliminate the appearance of stretch marks. Additional studies show that the appearance of stretch marks continues to improve over a period of time ranging from 3 - 6 months after the laser treatment was given. Even those treatments that showed little if any initial improvement showed as much as a 50% improvement at their 6-month checkup.
Note: Patients with a history of Vitiligo, pigmentation disorders, dark tans or dark pigmentation may require an initial skin test for evaluation by our physician prior to treatment. Scarfade™ and Laserfade™ are silicone gels that when applied to the skin form a micro-thin layer of silicone on the scar. They can be worn under cosmetics and are both easily tolerated by children. The silicone is thought to moisturize the skin, reduce capillary irritation and allow the skin to return to its normal texture and color. Most patients do not require anesthetic. Some patients have indicated that they feel a slight tingling when the laser pulses, or that the laser pulse feels like the snap of a rubber band against the skin.

After Dr. Zikiraperforms a laser treatment, results vary from patient to patient and may not be immediate. Results from laser scar and stretch mark treatment are generally progressive and may require multiple treatments. If you respond to the first treatment, your second treatment will usually be as good as the first, and the third treatment will be almost as good. About 70% of patients receiving laser treatments for their stretch marks notice a marked improvement. Newer and shallower stretch marks and scars respond better than older and deeper scars and stretch marks. To enhance the results of your laser treatments your surgeon may recommend the use of tretinoin cream or a glycolic acid cream prior to and after your laser treatments.
Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are those small red, blue and purple blood vessels that appear most frequently on the face and thighs. Varicose veins are usually larger than 1/4 inch in diameter and may appear raised with a bluish color. They may also be related to more serious vein disorders and require a careful evaluation by Dr. Zikira prior to treatment.
Today's new medical lasers provide safe and effective non-surgical treatment options for the removal of spider and varicose veins. New, advanced laser treatments are performed by our doctor for patients in our region to deliver a precise dosage of energy to each vein. During your treatment, light energy is delivered through a special laser handpiece to the targeted vein, in a series of brief pulses. The light energy is absorbed by the blood vessels, but not the surrounding tissue. This heat absorption causes a coagulation of the blood vessel, which is subsequently absorbed by your body.
Prior to treatment our physician will review your medical history to determine how long you have had a problem with your veins and the severity of the problem. We need to determine your skin type and if there has been any prior surgery or treatment on your veins. We may test to determine if there are any underlying venous problems. If there are, further testing may be advised before laser vein therapy is attempted.
First, we will identify the veins to be treated. We then proceed to deliver pulses of light (laser) energy along the length of the vessel, larger veins first. The light energy causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessels, which are then absorbed by your body. Most laser therapy patients report little discomfort. Some experience a mild burning sensation when we pulse the laser.
The number of treatments required varies with the size and depth of each vein. For the maximum long-term resolution, multiple treatments may be necessary. However, if new veins appear, additional treatments are required. Treatments may be in 3 - 4 week intervals.
Yes. Laser vein therapy may be combined with injection sclerotherapy. During sclerotherapy, a sclerosing solution is injected into the vein through a micro-needle. The tiny needles generally cause very little pain. The sclerosing solution causes the vein to blanch (turn white), then gradually disappear. A typical treatment may last for 15 - 20 minutes and consist of multiple injections.
After Dr. Zikira performs your laser treatment, you may be asked to wear support hose or special heavy duty stockings to help keep pressure on the veins. This will help keep the treated veins closed. Bruises around the treated areas usually disappear after the first week. A tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks when larger veins are involved. While each vein may require several pulses from the laser, most will disappear in 2 - 6 weeks. Keys to success with laser leg vein therapy include the avoidance of hot baths and strenuous exercise, and may include the short-term use of compression stockings. Patients are generally encouraged to resume most normal activities immediately. We do ask that you refrain from vigorous activities for the first 24 hours. Although your final results may not be apparent for several months, most of our patients enjoy the comfort and the look of legs without unsightly red, blue and purple veins.
Your face, hands and arms are the first parts of the body to show signs of aging because they receive so much exposure. Sunlight, the elements and the natural aging process all contribute to the development of dark spots and freckles. Age spots and freckles are forms of pigmented lesions. They are caused by excess production of melanin in the skin. Melanocytes are the cells that manufacture melanin (the dark pigment in skin). Most of us have some form of pigmented lesion. While spots and freckles may not be medical emergencies, many of our patients would like to have them removed. Fortunately, spot removal is performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region using advanced medical lasers that remove these distractions safely, easily and effectively.
Today, lasers can remove 90 - 95% of the pigmented lesions effectively. Lasers and advanced light systems convert electrical energy into intense light. Different systems produce different colors (wavelengths) of light. Each color light is used to treat specific tissues. For example, the light which is used to treat lesions is brown and will not have any effect on other colored tissues.
During the consultation with our physician, explain your goals and expectations of the treatment. Dr. Zikira will assess the nature of your skin lesions, your expectations and explain the probable outcome of each procedure. You may be shown several before and after treatment photographs of patients with similar spots, and our doctor will explain the procedure you can expect to receive and the results that you can anticipate. Most patients describe the sensation to feel like the snap of a rubber band on the skin as the laser pulses are delivered through the handpiece. Some patients request a topical anesthesia for added comfort. Following treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent.
Typically only 1 - 2 treatments are all that is necessary. Occasionally darker, larger spots may require additional treatment to obtain optimal results. Laser Spot Removal gives Dr. Zikira precise control as the procedure gently removes the spots to reveal smooth, fresher-looking skin. The laser's energy is delivered in pulses via a handpiece held very close to the skin. As the laser pulses, you may feel a slight sting. If needed, a local anesthesia can be applied to the treatment area. Spots are removed in a precise, rapid, bloodless fashion achieving excellent. After Dr. Zikira performs your laser treatment, there may be a little discoloration. After several days a crust will form and fall off within 7 - 14 days. Occasionally some discoloration may persist for several months.

Today's patients are very proactive about their appearance and their health. They are more concerned about treating the early signs of aging than their parents. Patients today are looking for faster, less invasive procedures with little, if any, downtime that can reduce forehead lines and crow's feet, frown lines, smoker's lines around the lips, and sagging cheeks. Many of them want to treat aging in their neck, chest, underarms, abdomen, hands, thighs and knees, and in some cases even their breasts. There are many different technologies now available including radio frequency and light technologies.
Our doctor performs Tissue Tightening, a non-invasive procedure used to tighten or lift sagging skin, for patients in our region. The procedure is non-surgical and uses safe, infrared light or radio frequency to cause the collagen in the skin's dermis to contract and tighten. It can be used in all areas of the body where tighter skin is desired. The deep heating of the skin causes some immediate contraction of the collagen and additional improvement over the next 3-6 months. The optimum treatment is performed with multiple passes and moderate settings.
All patients who would like to look younger and are concerned with loose sagging skin, regardless of skin type or color, may benefit from Tissue Tightening.
Facial skin and the skin along the neck can be tightened providing a mild, non-surgical browlift or facelift effect. This treatment is often used for sagging jowls. The tightening effect may be used to firm up loose or sagging tissue in other parts of the body such as the abdomen or legs. Most patients see results immediately. However, the results may be gradual over a three to six-month period as the skin tightens and newer collagen is formed. Depending on the area treated, the skin laxity and your desired results, more than one treatment may be required.
Depending on your skin's laxity, the area to be treated and the results you desire, multiple treatments may be required. During your consultation, your doctor will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments that may be required to achieve your desired results. Keep in mind that the results from Tissue Tightening are gradual and may take from three to six months to maximize the effects of the treatment.
After our doctor performs your Tissue Tightening treatment, you may notice some mild swelling and/or redness in the treatment area. This usually disappears in a few hours. You may resume normal activities immediately.
Are you tired of always having to cover up your legs due to unsightly varicose veins? As many as 40% of women and 25% of men suffer from varicose veins. Each year over 1 million people undergo surgery for their removal. Varicose vein removal is performed by Dr. Gul Zikira for patients in our region, so you can feel better about your appearance. Symptoms associated with varicose veins include aching legs, burning and itching around the vein, swelling, and in some severe cases, ulceration and bleeding. Veins that cause pain or are cosmetically unappealing should be treated.
Contractions of our ankle and calf muscles help to pump blood back up to our hearts. Valves inside the veins prevent the blood from falling back down in between heartbeats. As we age, the veins in our legs begin to stretch and lose their elasticity. The valves no longer function properly. This allows blood to flow backward and form pools in the weakened, lower veins. The resulting twisted, lumpy mass of blue veins bulging just beneath the surface of the skin are known as varicose veins.
