ThermiTight for Skin Tightening

What is ThermiTight?

Most people will notice significant changes in skin tightness and fat distribution over time due to factors like sun damage, hormonal changes and the natural process of aging. Some surgical procedures offer solutions to skin imperfections, although many of these procedures are invasive and require extended recovery periods. ThermiTight is an FDA-approved, non-surgical procedure that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to heat tissue underneath the skin to promote the body's natural healing process. This system uses the same targeted RF energy of its sister procedure, ThermiSmooth, but ThermiTight heats skin internally rather than externally.

ThermiTight is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure that requires local anesthetic and requires little to no downtime—the procedure itself takes less than an hour. Because ThermiTight promotes the natural healing processes in the tissue, results develop gradually over a period of three to four months. Some patients experience mild swelling, redness or inflammation at the treatment site following the procedure. These symptoms typically diminish within 24 to 48 hours.

How Does ThermiTight Work?

The doctor will start the ThermiTight procedure by injecting a local anesthetic solution into the targeted area that numbs the skin to maximize patient comfort. The length of each treatment depends on how many areas are being treated and the size of the areas. ThermiTight is a procedure that offers surgery-like results without lengthy downtime.

Once the area is numbed, the physician will make a tiny incision where a small probe is inserted. The probe has an electrode at the tip that emits tiny bursts of radiofrequency energy to heat the deep layers of the skin. The physician will gently and precisely guide the probe underneath the skin's surface to heat the deep tissues. During the procedure, a specialized infrared camera monitors the temperature of the skin, making sure it stays in the optimal range—typically between 50°C to 65°C.

ThermiTight delivers heat to connective tissue beneath the skin that stimulates collagen development. Collagen is part of the support structure of the skin, and new collagen production firms and tightens aged, sagging skin. Similar levels of heat cause fat cells to dissolve, and the body absorbs these injured cells. When deep tissue is heated with RF energy, there are two effects that lead to skin tightening:

Why ThermiTight?

One of the most beneficial aspects of ThermiTight is that results can be seen after just one procedure—although some patients may require additional treatments depending on the condition being addressed. Anyone struggling with loose, sagging skin or unwanted pockets of fat that simply won't respond to traditional diet and exercise is a candidate for a ThermiTight procedure. Compared to more invasive surgical procedures, ThermiTight has proved to be a safer and more effective option.

Because ThermiTight focuses on the layers beneath the surface of the skin, it provides real and lasting results. The procedure helps patients attain tighter, more youthful skin in just one session. Although it is not a substitute for diet and exercise, it tightens stubborn fat pockets. Other benefits of ThermiTight include:
